Black book of animals. Black Book Animals

Most people on the planet think and act, as was said by the great Louis XV - "After me, even a flood." From such behavior, mankind loses all those gifts so generously provided to us by the Earth.

There is such a thing as a Red Book. It keeps records of representatives of flora and fauna, which are currently considered endangered species and are under reliable protection of people. There are also black book animals. This unique book lists all the animals and plants that have disappeared from planet Earth after 1500.

The latest statistics are horrified, they say that over the past 500 years, 844 species of fauna and about 1000 species of flora have disappeared forever.

The fact that they all really existed was confirmed by cultural monuments, stories of naturalists and travelers. They really were recorded alive at that time.

At the same time, they remained only in pictures and in stories. In their live form, they no longer exist, therefore this publication is called "Black Book of Extinct Animals. "

All of them are blacklisted, which in turn is in the Red Book. The middle of the last century is significant in that people had the idea to create a Red Book of animals and plants.

With its help, scientists are trying to reach the public and consider the problem of the disappearance of many species of plant and animal life not at the level of a couple of people, but together, the whole world. This is the only way to achieve positive results.

Unfortunately, such a move did not really help to solve this issue, and the lists of endangered animals and plants are replenished more and more every year. Nevertheless, scientists hope that people should someday come to their senses and blacklisted animals will no longer replenish her lists.

The unreasonable and barbaric attitude of people to all natural resources has led to such terrible consequences. All the titles in the Red and Black Books are not just records, this is a cry for help to all the inhabitants of our planet, a kind of request to stop using natural resources purely for your personal purposes.

Using these notes, a person should understand how important his careful attitude to nature is. After all, the world around us is so beautiful and helpless at the same time.

Looking through black book animal list, people are horrified to realize that many of the species of animals that are in it have disappeared from the face of the earth through the fault of mankind. Whatever it was, directly or indirectly, but they became victims of humanity.

Black book of extinct animals It contains so many names that it is simply unrealistic to consider them in one article. But their most interesting representatives nevertheless deserved attention.

In Russia, natural conditions make it possible for the most interesting and vibrant representatives of the animal and plant worlds to live on its territory. But much to my chagrin, there is a constant reduction in their numbers.

Black book of animals of Russia every year replenished with new lists. The animals that are on these lists remained only in the memory of people or as stuffed animals in local history museums of the country. Some of them are worth telling.

Steller Cormorant

These extinct birds were discovered by the forwarder Vitus Bering during his trip to Kamchatka in 1741. That was the name of the bird in honor of one naturalist, Steller, who was the best able to describe this wonderful bird.

These are quite large and slow individuals. They preferred to live in large colonies, and sheltered from dangers in the water. The taste qualities of Steller cormorant meat were almost immediately appreciated by people.

And because of the simplicity in hunting for them, people just started to use them uncontrollably. All this chaos ended in the fact that in 1852 the last representative of these cormorants was killed. This happened just 101 years after the view was discovered.

Steller's cow

During the same expedition, another interesting animal was discovered - the Steller's cow. The Bering ship survived the shipwreck, his whole team had to stop on the island, which was called Bering and all winter eat amazingly tasty meat of animals, which the sailors decided to call cows.

Such a name came to their mind in view of the fact that the animals fed exclusively on sea grass. The cows were huge and slow. They weighed at least 10 tons.

And the meat was not only tasty, but also healthy. Hunting these giants was no big deal. They safely grazed near the water, eating sea grass.

The animals were not shy and they were not afraid of people at all. All this served the fact that literally within 30 years after the arrival of the expedition to the mainland, the population of Steller cows was completely exterminated by bloodthirsty hunters.

Caucasian bison

The Black Book of animals includes another amazing animal called the Caucasian bison. There were times when these mammals were more than enough.

They could be seen on the terrain from the Caucasus mountains to northern Iran. For the first time, people learned about this type of animal in the 17th century. The decrease in the number of Caucasian bison was greatly influenced by the vital activity of man, his uncontrolled and greedy behavior in relation to these animals.

Pastures for their grazing became less and less, and the animal itself was destroyed due to the fact that he had very tasty meat. Also, the skin of Caucasian bison was valued among people.

This turn of events led to the fact that by 1920 in the population of these animals there were no more than 100 individuals. The government finally decided to take urgent measures to preserve this species and in 1924 a special reserve was created for them.

By this happy day, only 15 individuals of this species have survived. But the conservation area did not scare or embarrass the bloodthirsty poachers, who even there continued to hunt for valuable animals. As a result, the last Caucasian bison was killed in 1926.

Transcaucasian Tiger

People exterminated everyone who fell in their path. It could be not only defenseless animals, but also dangerous predators. Among these animals, the Transcaucasian Tiger is on the Black Book list, the last of which was destroyed by man in 1957.

This wonderful predatory animal weighed about 270 kg, had a beautiful, long fur, painted in a rich bright red color. These predators could be found in Iran, Pakistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey.

Scientists believe that the Transcaucasian and Amur tigers are close relatives. In Central Asia, this animal species disappeared due to the appearance of Russian immigrants there. In their opinion, this tiger posed a great danger to people, so the hunt was open for him.

It even got to the point that the regular army was engaged in the extermination of this predator. The last representative of this species was destroyed by man in 1957 somewhere in the region of Turkmenistan.

Rodriguez Parrot

They were first described in 1708. The habitat of the parrot was the Mascarene Islands, which were located near Madagascar. The length of this bird was not less than 0.5 meters. She had a bright plumage of orange tones, which practically caused the death of the bird.

It was because of the pen that people opened the hunt for the bird and exterminated it in incredible quantities. As a result of such great “love” of people for Rodriguez parrots by the 18th century, there was no trace of them.

Falkland fox

Some animals did not disappear immediately. It took years, even decades. But there were those with whom a man dealt without much pity and in the shortest possible time. It is to these unfortunate creatures that the Falkland foxes and wolves belong.

From the information of travelers and museum exhibits it is known that this animal had insanely beautiful brown fur. The height of the animal was about 60 cm. A distinctive feature of these foxes was their barking.

Yes, the animal made sounds very much like dogs barking. In 1860, foxes caught the eye of the Scots, who immediately appreciated their expensive and amazing fur. From this moment began a fierce shooting of the animal.

In addition, gases and poisons were applied to them. But despite such persecution, the foxes were too friendly towards people, they contacted them without any problems and even in some families became excellent pets.

The last Falkland fox was destroyed in 1876. It took a man only 16 years to completely destroy this animal of amazing beauty. In memory of him there were only museum exhibits.

This wonderful bird was mentioned in the work "Alice in Wonderland." There, the bird had the name Dodo. These birds were quite large. Their height was not less than 1 meter, and they weighed 10-15 kg. They absolutely did not have the ability to fly, they exclusively moved on the ground, like ostriches.

Dodos had a long, strong, pointed beak, against which small wings very strongly created contrast. Their limbs, in contrast to the wings, were relatively large.

These birds settled on the island of Mauritius. For the first time it became known about him from the Dutch sailors, who in 1858 first appeared on the island. Since then, persecution of the bird began because of its delicious meat.

Moreover, they were committed not only by people, but also by pets. This behavior of people and their pets led to the complete extermination of dodo. Their last representative was seen in 1662 on Mauritian land.

It took a man less than a century to completely wipe these amazing birds off the face of the earth. It was after this that people began to realize for the first time that they could be the primary cause of the extinction of entire populations of animals.

Marsupial wolf tilacin

This interesting animal was first seen in 1808 by the British. Most marsupial wolves could be found in Australia, from which at one time they were driven out by wild dingo dogs.

Wolf populations were preserved only where these dogs were not. The beginning of the 19th century was another disaster for animals. All farmers decided that the wolf causes great harm to their economy, which served as a reason for their extermination.

By 1863, there were much fewer wolves. They moved to hard-to-reach places. This solitude would most likely save the marsupial wolves from certain death, if not for the unknown occurrence of the epidemic that exterminated most of these animals.

Of these, a small handful remained, which in 1928 again failed. At this time, a list was compiled of animals that needed the protection of humanity.

Unfortunately, the wolf was not included in this list, which led to their complete disappearance. Six years after this, the last marsupial wolf living in the territory of a private zoo did not become old.

But people still hope that, nevertheless, somewhere far away from a person the population of the marsupial wolf has hidden and we will someday see them not in the picture.

Quagga belongs to the subspecies of zebras. Distinguishes them from their relatives in a unique color. At the front of the animal, the color is striped, at the back it is monophonic. According to scientists, it was quagga that was the only animal that humans could tame.

The quagg had an amazingly quick reaction. They could instantly suspect a danger awaiting them and a herd of cattle grazing nearby and warn everyone about it.

This quality was appreciated by farmers even more than that of guard dogs. The reason why the quaggs were destroyed is still not clear. The last animal died in 1878.

Chinese river dolphin

To the death of this miracle, who lives in China, man was not directly involved. But indirect intervention in the range of dolphins served this. The river in which these amazing dolphins lived was flooded with ships, and indeed polluted.

Until 1980, there were at least 400 dolphins in this river, but already in 2006 not a single one was noticed, which was confirmed by the International Expedition. In captivity, dolphins could not reproduce.

Golden frog

This unique bouncer was first discovered recently, in 1966. But all in a couple of decades, she was completely gone. The problem is that the frog lived in places of Costa Rica, where for many years the climatic conditions did not change.

Due to global warming and, of course, human life, the air in the habitat of the frog began to change significantly. It was unbearably difficult to withstand the frogs and they gradually died. The last golden frog was seen in 1989.

Passenger pigeon

Initially, there were so many of these wonderful birds that people did not even think about their mass extermination. People liked the meat of pigeons, they were also pleased that it was so easily accessible.

They were massively fed slaves and the poor. It took literally one century for the birds to cease to exist. This event for all of humanity was so unexpected that people still can’t recover. How this happened they are still perplexed.

Crested pigeon

This beautiful and amazing bird inhabited the Solomon Islands. The reason for the disappearance of these pigeons was cats brought to their habitats. Almost nothing is known about the behavior of birds. They say that they spent most of their time on earth rather than in the air.

Birds were too gullible and went to their hunters themselves simply in their hands. But they were still destroyed not by people, but by homeless cats, for whom the crested, thick-billed pigeons were their favorite treat.

Wingless loon

This flightless bird was immediately appreciated by people due to the taste of meat and excellent quality of fluff. When birds became less and less, collectors began to hunt for them except poachers. The last hut was seen in Iceland and killed in 1845.

These animals belonged to lemurs and inhabited the Madagascar islands. Their weight sometimes reached up to 56 kg. These were large and slow lemurs who preferred to live in trees. Animals used all four limbs to move through the trees.

On the ground they traveled with great clumsiness. They ate mainly foliage and fruits of trees. The mass extermination of these lemurs began upon the arrival of the Malays in Madagascar and due to multiple changes in their habitual habitat.

These huge non-flying birds lived in Madagascar. They could reach up to 5 meters in height and weigh about 400 kg. The length of their eggs reaches 32 cm, with a volume of up to 9 liters, this is 160 times more than a chicken egg. The last epioris was killed in 1890.

Balinese tiger

These predators died in the 20th century. They lived in Bali. There were no particular problems or threats to the life of animals. Their number was constantly kept at the same level. All conditions were conducive to their carefree life.

For local residents, this beast was a mystical creature with almost black magic. People out of fear could kill only those individuals that represented a great danger to their livestock.

For the sake of interest or fun, they never hunted tigers. The tiger was also cautious with people and did not do cannibalism. This continued until 1911.

At this time, thanks to the great hunter and adventurer Oscar Voynich, it did not occur to him to open a hunt for Balinese tigers. People began to follow his example en masse and after 25 years the animals were gone. The latter was destroyed in 1937.

Heather grouse

These birds lived in England. They had a small brain, respectively, a delayed reaction. For nutrition, seeds were used. Their worst enemies were hawks and other predators.

There were several reasons for the disappearance of these birds. In their habitats, infectious diseases of unknown origin appeared that killed too many individuals.

The land was gradually plowed up, periodically the area in which these birds lived was exposed to fires. All this served as the reasons for the death of heather grouse. People made many attempts to save these amazing birds, but by 1932 they were completely gone.

The tour was for cows. They could be found in Russia, Poland, Belarus and Prussia. The last tours lived in Poland. They were huge, strong-knit bulls, but comparatively taller than them.

The meat and skins of these animals were very much appreciated by people, this was the reason for their complete disappearance. In 1627, the last representative of the tours was killed.

The same thing could happen with bison and bison, if people did not understand the severity of their sometimes rash acts and did not take them under their reliable protection.

Literally until recently, it didn’t occur to a person that he really is the real owner of his Earth and it depends only on him who and what will surround him. In the 20th century, this realization came to people that much that happened to the smaller brothers could not be called otherwise than vandalism.

Recently, a lot of work, explanatory conversations, in which people are trying to convey the importance of a particular species, so far listed in the Red Book. I would like to believe that each person will come to the realization that we are responsible for everything and the list of the Black Book of animals will not be replenished with any of the species.

Holographic Kangaroo

In another way, it is also called a kangaroo rat. The habitat of such kangaroos, like many other rather unique animals, was Australia. With this animal was not all right from the beginning. The first descriptions of him appeared in 1843.

In unknown Australian places, people caught three specimens of this species and named them hologrudous kangaroos. Literally until 1931 nothing more was known about the animals found. After that, they again disappeared from the field of view of people and are still considered dead.

Mexican grizzly bear

They could be found everywhere - in North America and Canada, as well as in Mexico. This is a subspecies of a brown bear. The animal was a huge bear. He had small ears and a high forehead.

By decision of the ranch owners, grizzlies began to be exterminated in the 60s of the 20th century. In their opinion, the grizzly bear posed a great danger to their domestic animals, in particular livestock. In 1960, there were still about 30 of them. But in 1964, none of these 30 individuals remained.

This European wild horse could be observed in European countries, in Russia and Kazakhstan. The animal was not small in size. Their height at the withers was about 136 cm, and their bodies were up to 150 cm long. Their mane was sticking out, and their hair was thick and wavy, had a black-brown, yellow-brown, or dirty yellow color.

In winter, the coat became significantly lighter. The tarpan's dark extremities had so strong hooves that they did not need horseshoes. The last tarpan was destroyed by a man in the Kaliningrad region in 1814. These animals remained in captivity, but later they did not.

Barbary lion

This king of animals could be found in the territories from Morocco to Egypt. The Barbary lions were the largest of their kind. It was impossible not to notice their thick dark mane hanging from the shoulders to the abdomen. 1922 dates the death of the last of this wild beast.

Researchers argue that their descendants exist in nature, but they are not purebred and mixed with others. During gladiatorial fights in Rome these animals were used.

Black Cameroon Rhino

Until recently, there were many representatives of this species. They lived in the savannah south of the Sahara desert. But the power of poaching was so great that the rhinos were exterminated despite the fact that the animals were under reliable protection.

Rhinos were exterminated because of their horns, which possessed healing qualities. This assumes a large part of the population, but there is no scientific confirmation of these assumptions. In 2006, people last observed rhinos, after which in 2011 they were officially recognized as extinct animals.

Abingdon elephant tortoise

Unique elephant turtles were considered one of the largest extinct in recent times. They were from the family of centenarians. The last long-liver of the turtles of the island of Pinta died in 2012. At that time he was 100 years old, he died of heart failure.

Caribbean Monk Seal

This handsome man lived near the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, in Honduras, Cuba and the Bahamas. Although the Caribbean monk seals led a solitary life, they were of great industrial value, which ultimately served as their complete disappearance from the face of the earth. The last Caribbean seal was observed in 1952, but only since 2008 they are considered officially extinct.
